Employee Spotlight - Sharon Roys

Sharon Roys

In this issue of Aerovision we have cornered our Contracts Administrator, Sharon Roys. Sharon has been with Bauer for 30 years and has held positions in Expediting, Purchasing, Shipping & Inventory Control and Contracts.

Sharon was born and raised in Bristol, CT. After high school she worked at Connecticut Bank and Trust. In 1978, she found a home at Bauer as an Expediter, then as a Buyer and became Purchasing Manager in the 1980s. During this time she took a Machine Shop course offered by Pratt & Whitney (a UTC Co.) where she learned to read blue prints and make machined parts.

When Bauer moved from Farmington to Avon in the 1990s, Sharon became the Shipping and Inventory Control Manager. Then in 2000, when Bauer moved to Bristol, Sharon became the Contracts Administrator and continues to help out in Shipping, Purchasing and Sales.

By working in Contracts, Sharon has had the chance to work with many of our international customers and has always enjoyed learning about other countries. While cultural differences can sometimes be an obstacle, Sharon always manages to overcome these barriers to help our customers get the equipment they need, when they need it and at the lowest possible cost. She attributes her longevity at Bauer to the many multi-talented people she has worked with over the years, most importanly Lou Auletta Sr. She also has a constant willingness to learn, adapt and think outside the box a little, which is probably due to the influence of her father and his "no quit" attitude.

Even though Sharon had her first plane ride at the age of 29, courtesy of Bauer, she has been a hangglider pilot since 1990, silently exploring the skies. She lives in Pleasant Valley, CT with her husband of 24 years, Dan.
