POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for the electrical system design on custom test equipment developed for specific applications.  The candidate should display detailed knowledge of electrical power systems, electrical control/distribution systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition.  Strong teamwork and communication skills are required. This position is intimately involved with the project from inception through installation at the customer’s site. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS not limited to:

  • Review specific test procedures for the components on the equipment capability list to understand test requirements
  • Design a complete electrical system to support hydraulic circuits
  • Support of design, documentation, assembly, integration, test and field support of industrial controls/systems
  • Create electrical schematics, operator panel and sub-panel layouts
  • Select electrical control devices and develop the Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Assure design compliance with electrical standards
  • Create functional test requirements for equipment checkout
  • Develop and implement data acquisition hardware/software system to collect data specified by test procedures
  • Track project schedule and budgets
  • Communicate with engineering team and customer to resolve design or testing issues

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong foundation in PC skills; Microsoft Office Suite, MRP/ERP systems (Visual ERP system knowledge a plus) CAD experience, SolidWorks, AutoCAD a plus

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of commercial experience
  • BS degree in Engineering.  BSEE preferred.
  • Experience with PC’s, NI Data Acquisition hardware & PLC
  • Strong experience with industrial control/systems and transducers
  • Ability to design or understand mechanical systems including hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
  • Experience with Labview and PLC programming
  • Demonstrated experience with AC & DC motor controls
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Experience reading/creating engineering drawings and schematics using CAD applications
  • Knowledge of NEC electrical codes & wiring standards for industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with NFPA Hazardous Area Classifications, CE and ATEX requirements
  • Some domestic and international travel required (10-25%)
