The Sheet Metal Fabricator and Welder is an important member of the team that builds and tests our product within budget and schedule. This position produces high quality components and assemblies in accordance with specific engineering drawings and fabricate precise metal components for aerospace applications. This person is closely involved with the project from beginning of fabrication, through assembly. The Metal Fabricator and Welder must have working knowledge of blueprint reading and conventional metal working techniques such as measuring, cutting, bending, fitting, welding, grinding, and drilling. Perform other routine duties as directed by the Manufacturing manager or shop lead. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aerospace industry standards and practices, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and accuracy

Essential Functions include, but not limited to:

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and determine best way to fabricate jobs
  • Conduct lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during fabrication.
  • Must be focused on safety and product quality, with ability to safely lift up to 25 Lbs.
  • Must operate various welding and fabrication equipment with focus on safety and product quality.
  • Frequent communication between Engineers, Management, and other Teams is expected.
  • Ability to “field fit” components to support downstream assembly processes.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a minimum of supervision.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet engineering specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications Required:

  • Attention to detail, with clear focus and a strong desire to succeed
  • Ability to read blueprints and inspect your own work
  • Operate MIG and TIG welders, torches, band saw, and shear
  • Ability to weld different types of materials like (cold rolled steel, Stainless steel, Aluminum)
  • Fit and weld pipe between schedule 10 and 40
  • Manufacture quality product with smooth seams, joints, or grind and polished surfaces
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Be safety conscious, dependable, and contribute to our positive environment and culture
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Trade school degree or certificate is desired
  • AWS welding certificate is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of welding experience
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment preferred
